I've just finished a lovely bamboo elongated stitch sampler top. I used a shiny 10/2 bamboo from WEBS that I originally bought to weave with. I didn't have anything really flowy and drapey in my knitting stash so I dived into the weaving stash. The color just jumped out at me. I thought the bamboo would be nice and cool for the summer but didn't finish until now because of being distracted with all that has happened when life got in the way. Anyway, it is finished now and is going to the fair! Yipee!
Here are a couple of quick close ups. Can you just see the shine and feel the softness?
I used coconut shell buttons which I think just add to the earthiness of the whole thing. You know me and my nature girl persona. This is a new color for me - did you notice it isn't green? That's OK because it is still a color found in nature. Yup, earthy.
A while back when Stan was unemployed he took up an interest in cooking (be still my heart). I was so impressed with his success I decided to 'crown' him chief chef. So I just had to stitch up this hat for him. Notice the embroidery - cook - eat - nap! Hmmm, is that a hint of grey in your eyebrows Stanley? That's OK. I let my hair go for months when Stan wasn't working and I had an absolute skunk stripe going on for a while until dear daughter took pity on me and colored it for me.
Sadly, the cooking has ceased since he is back to work. Still a temp job, but we are grateful. Especially with Gryphon's cancer treatment herbs and pain meds.
Gryphon continues to do well and I'm happy, happy, happy about it. I'm really not handling stress welll right now - the reserves are all used up. So, this respite with Gryphon is much appreciated.
Stay tuned. I'll have a shawl to post soon. I am very close to the finish line on it. It is my first circular shawl and it is GINORMOUS! I hope I have enough blocking mats to stretch it out properly.
