I'm just amazed at how much I've got done in just 11 days. 8 ounces of fiber usually takes me months when I'm not spinning every single night.
I wanted to post a pic of the Phat Fiber box I won as a prize in the Dorable KAL. I laid everything out so I could snap everything together. Lots of yarn and fiber samples, a stitch marker, stone beads and a silk hankie to spin. All in my earthy colors I love so much. Also included are a lot of business cards and websites I can visit online and build my stash window shop and make notes of where I can find supplies and fiber when I need it. I have plenty to keep me busy for a while to come.
Can you believe all these goodies? Wonderfully soft and luscious. There is such a variety of fibers I've never spun before. I want to thank garilynn for being so generous to have sent me such a fantabulous prize. Oh, I forgot to photo her pattern for a knitted oven mitt as well. That should come in handy and looks very clever and quick to knit. Thank you garilynn!
Lil' Puss had her shave today. She's all frisky and fancy free without all that persian fur. After 18 years I finally got it down to a science and get the job done lickety split - no muss, no fuss. She purrs through the whole thing. She's such a good soul. I'm sure she'll feel much more comfortable now. I can't imagine wearing a fur coat in this heat. I ended up sick today after being out in it. The car said 91 degrees. Even with AC in the house I still feel exhausted just from being out in it and both Puss and Gryphon have been sleeping a lot and just laying low. I was able to snap a quick pic before she went back to sleep on her big princess pillow. Here she is sporting her new do. Now she just looks like a regularly fluffy cat. What you don't see is that her fur was so long it touched the floor.
Well, I lost the battle with my old car. It was due for inspection in April and been back and forth to the mechanics since then trying to get the computer to reset to pass and it won't. There is something seriously wrong with it and it's connected to the electrical system as well. I've given in and traded it in for something newer. It was 14 years old after all. I picked up a 2008 Saturn Vue. It's one of those mini SUV styles and is higher than my car so I bought a telescoping ramp today for Gryphon to be able to get in without hurting his hips trying to jump. It's much easier on my hips though to get in and out than my older, low to the ground Saturn. Hopefully now I won't have to worry about things breaking down or not working. Especially where I'm out so late at night working. I need a reliable vehicle. Fingers crossed it will serve me as well as old reliable did.
Thought for the day: You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive
