Little Bits and Bites

I’ve made a big bite of progress on the Catkin shawl.  I’ve finally started the bottom border; you can just see my beginning to add the brown again.  I took this pic in a dark room and even with the flash I can’t really make out the lovely chevron design on the mid-section.  Once blocked, I’m sure it will stand out better.  This is a really fun knit.  I may have to make another one in different colors after the Back to the Garden KAL.  (which officially starts Sunday)  eek! Surprised smile

Have also made a little bit of progress on Dorable.  Now that I have the mesh lace panel figured out, it’s smooth sailing.  It turns out that the designer knits a bit differently than a typical english knitter.  She knits what is called combination style.  Yarn overs are made in a different direction and knits and purls are wrapped in a different direction for one or the other.  I was getting a different look to my mesh section, as well as another gal in the KAL group, (hi Michelle!) and we put our heads together to figure out how to reproduce it with our style of knitting.  She came up with it and I’m loving it.  She also won a fabulous drawing last week in the group.  Lucky lady!Gift with a bow

I’ve come across yet another shawl I HAVE to make for Teagan.  She will be 12 in August and we love bats.  Nosing around Michelle’s ravelry page brought Dancing Batty to my attention and I knew instantly Teagan would love it.  Showed it to her last week and yup!, she does love it.  She wants black, of course, goth girl that she is.  I’m also going to add silver lined beads for the eyes and make nupps for the ears.  Cute, cute, cute!  I have black angora/lambswool in the stash that will be perfect.  I really tried to restrain myself but once the yarn was wound and beads were chosen, I dug right in.  I don’t know if I’ll be able to have it finished for August 6 since I’m participating in Tour de Fleece for 21 days starting July 2.   But that's OK, I don't really celebrate birthdays, just the acknowledgement she is another year older.   So many projects, so little time……………………………….Clock

Speaking of Tour de Fleece, I have to finish up some SW BFL on my wheel before I can begin my challenge.  This is what I have going right now.  Another Purple Fleece beauty called Chuckles.  I got this from Debbie at the NH Sheep & Wool Festival and it’s lovely.

It’s lovely soft and just the hint of color is very appealing to me.  And isn’t that minispinner just a thing of beauty?
Thought for the day:  Without the rocks, the stream would lose its music.
