FO SHOW

Having some time off this week allows me to compose and post some FO's (finished objects) I have been working on for some time.  (By the time this is posted, this Thanksgiving week will be past.  I did not want to  publish until Elizabeth receives her gift.)  I do not get much sewing time unless I go to Quilt 'Till You Wilt once a month so these projects have been slow going.  At least they are done now and ready for gift giving.  I recently had a whole weekend sewing at the Quilter's Escapades retreat up at Mill Falls in Meredith, NH and got a lot of this finished up then.
Last year I started two sets of placemats in the quilted wholecloth technique.  I made a set for a relative we share a meal with when everybody has Thanksgiving off.  Then, since I was on a roll and enjoying making them so much,  I went ahead and made another set for whenever I might need another gift.
These are the two sets.  I used fat quarters of different shades of purple and green for the placemats and another coordinating color for the bindings and trivets.  I made bias binding and since I had so much left over, thought the trivet would be a handy addition.  Closeups follow.

I love using this zigzag stitch variation for sewing these coils together.  I think it looks so nice.  I wrapped the bias binding around cotton clothesline and wound the coil as I went.  Very easy and sturdy.
Then I made an air conditioner cover for Marjorie.  Her son helped her clean out her apartment recently and threw out the cover that the unit came with.  When she asked me to pick up a cheapy at the the store for her, I couldn't resist making this one for her.
She loves it and that makes me happy.
Two years ago I started the following tote bag and zippered pouch for Elizabeth and finished the bag at the Quilter's Escapades retreat but not the zippered pouch.  I brought it to finish last year but never got around to it.  THIS year I finished it and am very pleased with how it came out.  She loves mermaids and I love steampunk so this was a blast to stitch for her.

This is a crazy day for photo taking.  First the light is good, then it isn't.  The background is a kind of sueded fabric with depth to the wavy swirls.  The gear stitching and waves around the figures is stitched using metallic silver thread which is hard to discern on my photos.  Elizabeth is an awesome photographer.  I need her to take better pics for me.
;-) wink wink Elizabeth
Had a nice time at the Knitting Pipeline retreat in Kennebunk last month.  We had a washcloth exchange and I really got cracking on making lots of cloths to exchange.
I won this skein of yarn on the KnitGirlls group for entering the above pic in the Craft All The Things contest.

Paula, who hosts the retreat, loved this watermelon cloth so I gave it to her.
I finished this cami and brought it to the retreat for show and tell.  I didn't really like the way it looked on me or the color so I gave it away to PamfromNOLA.  Hope she enjoys it.
I bought this bag at the vendor fair since I am all things autumn!!!
Then I won this bag as a door prize from the same vendor.  I saved it and gave it to my BFF (Best Fiber Friend) Sue.  She loves giraffes!
Well, this catches me up for now.  Next post will have more knitting in it.
