Bragging Rights

I hereby claim bragging rights for two of my students (and friends).  They don't have a blog so I get to brag for them here on mine.
Congrats to Ana and Sue for BLUE (first place) ribbons on their first projects submitted at the Fryeburg Fair!!!!  Woohoo let's hear it for them!  I'm so very proud of them.
Here is Ana's feather and fan round tablecloth.   Unfortunately you can't see the beauty of it because it is folded up.  It came out to be a good size tablecloth and she used hempathy yarn.  Love that yarn.  And isn't the color the best?  :-)  She's giving this away as a gift!!!  Lucky recipient, wouldn't you say?
Here is Sue's first loom woven project.  A lovely shawl with all sorts of texture using different yarns and in her favorite colors.  It's super soft and  comfy and I'm sure she'll get a lot of use from it.   If only you could see the sparkle and dimension in this beautiful piece!   I have had an inkling to start weaving but this project clinched it for me.  I'll be taking a class at Stitches in 10 days and plan on doing some serious stash busting.
I did really well at the fair this year coming home with 11 ribbons.  7 blues, 3 red, 1 yellow.  The highlight for me though was this one:
I have never got a Judges Special Award ribbon so this is my first and it is HUGE!  I was awarded this ribbon and a blue ribbon on the lovely Back to the Garden Shawl.  That Andrea of BadCatDesigns is one heck of a designer.  I plan on wearing it at Stitches and I'm sure it will inspire many compliments.
Thank you Sue for taking the fair pictures.  It's difficult to get good shots through that glass but she did an awesome job!
