I finished the test knitting on Paivi's latest shawlette. It is free on ravelry and called the Sirppi Shawlette. I had a lot of fun knitting this and it went quickly once I was past the short rows. I love working short rows but I had a couple weeks of fuddled concentration and kept messing them up. This is a small shoulder shawlette and will be perfect for a little black dress. I think I mentioned in a previous post, I plan to experiment with dye painting the crescents whenever I can find the correct dye to do it.
I also finished the baby surprise jacket with my first two batches of handspun. I used the rest of the glacier green I got at Stitches and striped it with the lichen I bought when I got home. Both from Louet, merino/silk blend. I modified this pattern a lot. I made the decreases in stockinette so there would be a definite line of demarcation, lengthened the sleeves, made the bonnet and attached it as a hood, finished all edges in attached icord (and added ties), made buttonholes on both sides and then finished with buttons made from curtain rings and icord loops. It's very soft and squishy and I think it will be comfortable for some special little one. This is my second official project made with my own handspun.
Here's the progress on Carmen Banana. Just have to finish embroidering her facial details and knit the skirt. Oh, and I bought some yellow fimo clay to make tiny banana earrings!!! FUN!!! Don't you just love those lips?
I've added some length to the Honeybee Stole. This is a good picture of the true color. It's yummy. It is the MadelineTosh I bought at Stitches last October.
Last but not least, I've finished the large skulls on Teagan's Pirate Queen's Booty Bag. Now I just need to finish knitting the plain rows of the top and handles. Hope this felting endeavor comes out better than the poor vest I last attempted.
