Let's Talk Spinning

OK, so Saturday at Stitches East I took a class called Spinning For Knitting.  It was an eye opener for me.  I finally get it.  We used a top whorl drop spindle and it just all came together for me the way Merike explained it.  We got to try out a whole lot of different fibers (which I totally neglected to write down what was what) and get the feel of how different fibers draft and spin.  We even learned how to spin angora bunny fur and dog fur!  Woo Hoo I see a scarf or cowl out of Gryphon's fur to always be close to my face.  Unfortunately, I threw out all of the collected angora fur after Smudge died thinking I would never learn how to spin it.  Stupid, I know.  I'm kicking myself now.  Here is a partial pic of some of what I experimented with in the class:

Then I had to check out fiber at the market and found some lovely Louet Merino Silk in Glacier Green and
spun a bit on my homemade CD spindle:

I had spun this with some silk merino I had bought at MA sheep and wool:

This bit of cloud fluff is only a portion of what I have of Gryphon's downy undercoat:

AND since I don't have a top whorl spindle I just had to order this sculpted spindle:
Is this just me or what?
