Appliscapes!

Because we all know I haven't got enough projects started already --- I just discovered appliscapes.  This cool craft combines my love of applique' and embroidery.  It consists of pieces of a landscape.  Each piece is created entirely in the hoop.  You start by stitching down the background fabrics and then embroider on top of those.  Too cool ha?

My first appliscape is a spring folk scene that consists of 12 irregularly shaped pieces.  I'm going to wait to satin stitch assemble this all at once when all the pieces are completed.  Here are the first 6 pieces.

You can see how the pieces will fit together.  I've used some metallic threads as well that I cannot photograph well enough to show the beauty.  In fact, these pictures actually look washed out compared to the actual pieces.  Here is the partial assembly.
