Latte Quilt

Despite the fact this is a knitting blog, I'm aware more and more knitters are also quilters - or becoming quilters.  Therefore, I plan to post pics of the Latte Quilt I'm working on with emboidery and decorative stitching.

I love this quilt because it looks so antique.  I'm learning lots about how to use my machine and do things with both machines I never knew I could.  I have lusted over this quilt ever since I started teaching at Tammy's when I saw the other quilts being created and am pleased as punch to finally be doing my own.  The blocks are stitched on plain muslin with some fairy frost fabric inserts here and there.  My fairy frost is golden with ever so subtle green patterns running through it.  My blocks are far from perfect, but I'm learning; and that's the point.

The first block was my least favorite visually but the decorative stitching after the parasols were embroidered was great fun.  Attaching the free standing lace daisies at the end was fun too and all in all, I like the block now.

This second block was the first time I ever used a twin needle.  It is easy but how was I to know?  I intend to sew beads at each intersection of the grid.  Tiny, tiny irridescent green (of course).  It was cool to fiddle with the Elna and discover how to make and program stitch sequences too.
